My Graduation Speech
long time no post.
I'm gonna share with u guys about what I just did. I just graduated. a few days before the ceremony this woman from PR division of my university came to me and asked me something. And guess what? I was just asked to deliver the graduation speech to represent all the graduates. I was shocked! and of course I said yes.
I googled a few examples for the speech, copy-pasted here and there. and voila!
I still don't know why the let me did it.
well, anyway, if you have time to read my boring speech, here I show you, it goes like this:
Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘Aalamin. WasSalaatu wassalaam,’alaa ashrafil ambiyaaee wal Mursaleen. Wa’aalaa aalihi waashabihi ajmaeen. Ammaa baad.
Members of University, deans of the faculty, honorable guests,
Let me start by saying that I feel honoured to be standing here in this incredible place// The great thing about this university, is that we are not only taught about intellectual skills, but also emotionals and spirituals.// Those are things that you cannot find in other places.// Thank you, for providing us the place, facilities, and all. Looking back, there is no other place I’d rather be.
To the lecturers,
I would like to give my sincere of thanks for what you have learned to us, for your patience/ skills/ abilities/ and creativity /and the different opportunities that you offered us.// Although it was sometimes hard..
To family and parents,
Grandparents, mom, dad, brothers, sisters. Thank you for your unconditional love and supports. We couldn’t be here if it wasn’t because all of you.
(pause)
To all my fellow students, the graduates of 2011.
(pause)
I’d like to metaphore the years we had in this university as a journey. Along the journey we figure out what we really want to do in life. Along the journey, we might found the love of our life. Along the journey, we found the company of best friends, and creating the new family.
Guys, now would you please look around.
These are the people you saw in the doorway, people you ate your lunch with, your classmates, your friends, your girlfriend, and boyfriend. Well, maybe ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend. (giggles).
But that is not the point tho, I want you to look around, to really take in these people we just have this very meaningful experiences with/ for important years of our lives. After all we’ve been through, we should be proud and celebrate this moment. This is the time of our lives.
I know, it is sad, to realize that there will be no more hanging out because we will all be in the different tracks. But personally, I dont have much time to reminisce all of those and be sad. Because mostly, I feel excited. I am excited knowing that my life is waiting to begin. I want to do things I really want to do. And build career of it, and make money of it. Now, who is agree with me?
So after today, we will start the new journey. But don’t expect the road will be easier. There will be more ups dan downs, gravels, and crossroads// It is supposed to be hard/ so we can grow to be a better person// And if we choose the wrong turn/ or closed doors/it is also okay//. Because in the end, it will guide us to the right one//. It is//. like a philosopher says “the reason why all the doors are close, so you could open one that leads you to the perfect road”. (re-phrase). Anyone remember who the philosopher is with such a good quote?/ Okay, I quote that from a Katy Perry’s song.
To tell you the truth my friend, we’ll be ready for the real world outside// Remember the doubts and questions we had years ago/ and look at you right you//. We all have passed college//. We just got to have faith in us//. Isn’t that what we’ve been taught about? To have faith and believe in ourselves. And probably, the world out there is be a lot like college. but with different people, bigger classrooms and lessons. And we should be open to it.
(Pause)
So keep on running, don’t be scared.
The Graduates of 2011,
I truly wish us all the best in whatever the path that we choose// I hope to hear about you guys doing great in our reunion// and one day/ I will be reading the newspaper article, about a successful people/ or the great leader/ I will know whom to think of, one of us, graduates 2011.
And one more thing, it’s been a real pleasure/ and honor/ for me to be a part of journey with all of you.
Thank you, and congratulation! We did it!
Wasaalamualikum warahmatullahi wabaraktu
